Goddess: The Mother Divine

When we think of God or the Creator with all our minds and hearts we can invoke his Divine Presence. God is not a person sitting out there watching you. He is within us, around us and if we can think of God as our environment, as  Paramahansa Yogananda has said, then nothing can harm you!

Similarly the great Yogis have said that since God has no form or shape we can think of him as the Divine Mother, as a Shakti or pure female power or energy! As a female Shakti the Divine Mother is the aspect of the Creator or God that is active in creation! She is the Prakruti through which the whole Universe has manifested and is born! As human beings we have the need to personify Energy and so in the Indian philosophy we have personification of the Divine Mother, as we feel closer to the mother than the father. God as Father makes us feel that he is protecting us and guiding us whereas the Divine mother’s love, compassion and nurturing is felt when we visualise Her embracing us, loving us, cradling us on her lap!

Indian tradition is one of the few traditions in which the Feminine aspect of the Divine is worshipped with as much reverence as the Masculine aspect.

Shakti is the manifestation of the Lord. Within the divine Shakti even the Masculine form of God is powerless!

We also need meditative tools to bring us closer to HER!
