Subtle Energies College of Ayurveda Aromatherapy

Founded by Farida Irani, Subtle Energies College Of Ayurveda Aromatherapy has been providing courses in Ayurveda and Ayurveda Aromatherapy since 1999.
Farida's courses have been in high demand over the years and were accredited by the International Federation of Aromatherapists (IFA), now known as International Aromatherapy and Aromatic Medicine Association (IAAMA). The Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) approved them for on going education programs for their practitioner members. In 2005 the Australian Government recognised and accredited Farida's course as a Diploma of Ayurveda Aromatherapy. This course, the first of its kind, was soon implemented into colleges around the world, with a strong emphasis on Taiwan, Japan and Canada.
Subsequently in 2009, Subtle Energies went into partnership with the highly regarded Aminya Natural Therapy Academy in Queensland. It was through this partnership, that Subtle Energies School of Learning transformed into Subtle Energies College of Ayurveda Aromatherapy (SECAA).
From March 2011 Subtle Energies has commenced offering its redeveloped courses in partnership with Aminya Academy, enabling Subtle Energies teachers to teach nationally the Diploma Course and the new Cert IV qualification that has recently been developed and taught in 2011.
Ayurveda Aromatherapy is the combination of the two healing sciences, Ayurveda and Aromatherapy, where ancient tactile Ayurveda therapies are implemented based on the principles of Ayurveda with the use of the rare and unique Ayurveda Aromatherapy essential and base oils. These qualifications will give its graduates traditional and ancient techniques with unique points of difference not found in traditional Ayurveda & Aromatherapy courses and indeed is most suited for those who have already completed their studies in Ayurveda and Aromatherapy and are looking to progress further.


This is a newly accredited course that stems from the Diploma of Ayurveda Aromatherapy and is now a pre requisite to the Diploma. On completion of this course you will have a strong understanding of Ayurveda & Ayurveda Aromatherapy history, philosophy and principals. You will gain knowledge into the rare and unique flora pharmacy of essential and base oils that Ayurveda Aromatherapists specialise in, as well as a study into the Chakra, Nadi and Marma systems.

The Certificate IV in Ayurveda Aromatherapy Treatments course by Subtle Energies College Of Ayurveda Aromatherapy is made up of many practical and tactile units, where these units are unique from traditional ayurveda treatments as they incorporate the Ayurveda Aromatherapy oils, principals and methods. Therapies learnt include Subtle Energies' Shiroabhyang (Indian Head Massage), Padabhyang (Indian Foot Massage), Shirodhara and other allied body works.

This course is ideal for those who wish to further their aromatherapy, ayurveda or massage studies and provides a unique qualification for those wishing to work in a day spa, natural therapies clinic, aged care facility, beauty therapy clinic, health resort or as a practitioner or manager in the field of Ayurveda Aromatherapy.



This is an extensive study further to the Cert IV in to Ayurveda and Ayurveda Aromatherapy. Subjects cover nutrition, chemistry in Aromatherapy, infant massage and Abhyang (Ayurveda Massage) based on Farida Irani's signature Abhyang treatment. Graduates of Diploma of Ayurveda Aromatherapy course will be able to gain
employment in a day spa, natural therapies clinic, aged care facility, beauty therapy clinic, health resort or as a practitioner or manager in the field of Ayurveda Aromatherapy.

They would also qualify as an Aromatherapy Practitioner specialising in Ayurveda Aromatherapy, Ayurveda oils and decoctions, body therapies, clinical and treatment recommendations following Ayurveda principals and philosophies.



Subtle Energies College of Ayurveda Aromatherapy also offers short courses that require module 1 of the certificate IV as a completed pre-requisite.

Is this Cert IV course officially accredited and recognised?
Yes, those who complete the course will receive a Certificate IV in Ayurveda Aromatherapy Treatments which is officially recognised by the National Qualifications Framework.

What is the difference in the Short Courses and The Cert IV course?
The Short Courses are the individual modules that make up the Cert IV.

Those completing the short courses would only attend the module as a work shop and not receive accreditation until such time they complete all modules required of them to receive a Cert IV. Those attending only the short courses would receive a certificate of attendance.

Who teaches this course?
At present the core modules are being taught by the original writers of the course, Farida Irani and Khursheed Irani. For more information of Farida click here. Other modules are taught by key industry specialists in their respective sciences.

I have studied Ayurveda in the past what am I exempt from?
It would depend on your prior learning but eg Advanced Diploma Students of Ayurveda would be required to do most modules in Ayurveda Aromatherapy.
