Finding Calm in the Chaos: Shifting from Fear to Peace
We have always honoured the full, sacred experience of yoga, from the depth of the breath to the awakening of the spirit. Gifted to us over 5,000 years ago, the true lineage of yoga was designed as a holistic science of inner union, the art of aligning mind, body, and soul to find absolute stillness.
This philosophy is woven into the DNA of our brand. Decades ago, our pioneering founder, Farida Irani, recognised this beautiful synergy. Driven by a vision to bring holistic wellness to the world, Farida along with her colleagues co-founded Ayurveda Yoga Australia (AYA), an organisation formed to promote these two sciences of yoga and Ayurveda to the mainstream health and education system.
Conferences and talks were organised by AYA, which included authorities from all over the world. As part of our enlightening talks, we were deeply honoured to welcome Brother Satyananda to share his wisdom, both live at the 2009 AYA conference and for our 2020 Subtle Energies conference.
As a senior monastic of the Self-Realization Fellowship, he has lectured worldwide spreading the profound teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.
Brother Satyananda. Interview by Giselle Fernandez
Brother Satyananda joined us again during the pandemic for a special online interview with 5-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, Giselle Fernandez.
The Self-Realization Fellowship was founded by Yogananda in the 1920s to introduce Eastern yogic sciences to the West, fostering unity across all philosophies through scientific yogic techniques.
During the dialogue, Giselle beautifully highlights a universal truth: it is easy to feel connected to a higher being when things are going well, but what happens when we face energetic blocks, anxiety, and fear?
Brother Satyananda describes so beautifully that when fear takes over, the body and mind go into a survival fight-or-flight mode. True yoga addresses this directly by releasing that fight-or-flight response and systematically guiding the nervous system into a deep relaxation response, releasing deep-seated tensions. He teaches us how to shift our priorities in real time, choosing peace over fear.
He leaves us with powerful words about the nature of life, reminding us that change is here to push us forward. If we are ready to embrace change, we will discover a power within ourselves that we never knew we had.
Ultimately, the video below shares beautiful teachings with us and reminds us how we all have the power within when we tap into the authentic techniques of meditation and yoga. It is an invitation to reclaim your inner strength and live a life aligned with true purpose.
We invite you to watch this beautiful exchange, soak in his blessings, and remember his final words to our community: be strong and seek strength whilst avoiding the thoughts and emotions that weaken you.
